Rope Edge Protection Sheets

The perfect solution to damaged ropes/lines during rescues over rough surfaces or sharp edges. Any rope in direct contact with a sharp concrete, rock or metal edge is an accident waiting to happen.  Normally it is preferable to prevent rope-edge contact using some means of directing the rope away from an aggressive edge for the duration of the drop. However, this may not be possible in terms of bulk, logistics or cost so the rope needs to be protected some other way. The risk to the rope may not even be at the edge, in the mountain and wilderness environment and in confined spaces it is just as likely to be a sharp contact point between the anchor and the edge.
Whilst metal roller systems for rope edge protection work well, and certainly reduce the hauling effort this ‘soft protection’ product has the advantage of low weight, low cost, low bulk and flexibility with it’s placement.  If you drop an edge roller during a rescue you could be talking serious injury or even death to those below, in contrast, nobody is going to suffer too much if a canvas pad drifts down.

Our Rope Edge Protection Sheet is constructed in high density canvas and bound at the edges with Polypropylene webbing.  The sheets contain Polypropylene plastic inserts that run the width of the sheet that serve to even out any rough edges, providing further protection. Large eyelets are inserted along two edges that allow the sheets to be joined together (eg: using karabiners) or anchored in place.
