General Duty

The most versatile manikin for all rescue scenarios typically practiced by emergency rescue professionals including: Confined Space, USAR, Chemical/Biological Hazard, Road Traffic Collision (RTC) & general handling exercises - ensuring effective, realistic training.

Now constructed in the same flame retardant Polyester used in Police ballistic/stab vests, which typically has 4 times the strength and abrasion resistance of 16oz canvas or P.V.C (the materials previously used) – making the manikins even stronger than before.

They are weighted to produce an anatomically correct weight distribution and the 'feel' of an unconscious patient. Crucially, these manikins totally eliminate the risk of pinch welts and bruising being inflicted on trainees, a common injury when using plastic bodied dummies which usually have hard limb joints - for example when a hard knee joint folds over the forearm of a trainee. Our dummies have soft outer layers and have no hard joints - in fact, you can forcibly wrap a knee joint around a trainee's forearm with no risk of injury.

Available in 12 different sizes and weights from the baby 5kg up to the very heavy 90kg Adult. We also have a special 100kg version used for drop testing of harnesses, or just if you require a really heavy manikin! These manikins are tough enough to be buried under concrete, have steel lintels, concrete slabs, trees or motor vehicles laid upon them to present realistic scenarios for rescuers. Try that with one of those moulded plastic body manikins!

The protective overalls keep the manikin cleanand greatly increases the lifespan. The overalls are made of tough polyester material, (the same material as used on ballistic/stab jackets,) with high-density polypropylene webbing double stitched in the identified high-stress areas. The machine-washable overalls are fitted to all sizes of the manikin. The General Duty manikins can be used in temperatures up to 100C. Above this temperature or where 'flash-over' may occur we recommend using our Fire House flame retardant rescue manikin.

All training manikins of 20Kg and over are supplied complete with gumboots. The boots protect the legs if the manikin is dragged along the ground. The General Duty manikin is ideally suited to either wet or dry rescue conditions. If it gets wet it needs to be hung in a dry airy place to dry before storage. All dummies are screen printed with a warning triangle, a handling risk note and space for you to record the asset number the date of purchase on the head. These manikins have been issued with NATO stock numbers and are standard issue to armed forces around the world.

The flexible inner core is weighted to human proportions using 2kg packets of 5-10 mm crushed, washed stone aggregate. The weight packets are then sewn into a nylon inner, with all these body parts (arms, legs, chest etc) tied to the outer carcass using polypropylene rope. This method of construction prevents 'slumping' of the weight pouches and allows the manikin to maintain its shape when in use. These inner components are separated and padded using 25mm polyurethane foam contained in nylon liners which results in a manikin with the life-like feel of a real casualty. High-density polypropylene webbing provides extra strength and durability, especially at the high-stress points.
